Brussels Airlines recently announced a new destination in its long-haul network: Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, beginning June 3, 2026. The Kilimanjaro service will take off twice weekly.
With this new addition, Brussels Airlines grows its network in sub-Saharan Africa to 18 destinations. Kilimanjaro joins Entebbe, Uganda; Kigali, Rwanda; Bujumbura, Burundi; and Nairobi, Kenya, as destinations the airline serves in East Africa.
“Sub-Saharan Africa is our second home, and we’re happy to add an attractive destination to our network on this beautiful continent,” said Dorothea von Boxberg, CEO, Brussels Airlines. “Tanzania is a top destination for safaris, and we’re proud to contribute to the local economy by connecting Kilimanjaro to Brussels and beyond.”
Kilimanjaro, the gateway to Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, also offers easy accessibility to Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
The route will initially operate Wednesday and Saturday on an Airbus A330-300 with 288 seats in business, premium economy and economy.
Other changes to Brussels Airlines’ summer 2026 schedule include capacity to Freetown, Sierra Leone, increasing from five to six weekly flights, with additional service on Thursday; and added capacity to the existing network, with Spain and Portugal receiving 17 additional flights per week across Barcelona, Malaga, Alicante and Oporto; Copenhagen receiving five additional flights per week; Prague, four extra weekly flights; and Budapest at an increase of two flights per week.
