Last week, GT managing editor Kimberly Krol and I attended an event celebrating the Westin New York Grand Central’s one-year anniversary. The event took place in Grand Central Terminal’s Vanderbilt Hall.

We began the evening with a glass of wine and a visit to one of several photo booths set up throughout the space. There were cityscape, golf course, beach and ski resort backdrops — we decided to hit the slopes. By taking the photo, we entered in a chance to win a trip. An attendant assisted us in taking the photo, which we then enhanced with digital props. We emailed the photo to ourselves and received a printed copy so we would always remember that time we went skiing in Grand Central Terminal.

Following our photo adventure (sadly, we did not win a trip), we enjoyed signature cocktails and cuisine from Gerber Group’s THE LCL: Bar & Kitchen. Meats, cheeses, breads and spreads from the charcuterie table were worth waiting in a long line. While we waited, we sipped signature cocktails. Kim had the Gatsby 7, a gin drink. I had the Seeing Red, a rye drink. The ginger candy garnish was a nice treat. We made our way to the mac ‘n’ cheese bar and a chili station — both delicious. In addition to the stations, we sampled a variety of passed hors d’oeuvres, including mini grilled cheeses, sliders and ahi tuna tartare. Later in the night, the passed desserts included apple pie, cookies, cake pops and brownies.

We tried our luck at another trip giveaway, and towards the end of the night there was a raffle — unfortunately, we didn’t win anything. After a performance by musical guest Five for Fighting, we made our way back to Pennsylvania. It was a very impressive event celebrating a great property. Congratulations, Westin New York Grand Central!
