Last week, I had the opportunity to visit Toronto for the first time. It’s always exciting to be in a new city and to see what it has to offer. Because it was a short trip, I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to see too much of the city. However, to my surprise, I ended up seeing all of the city (literally). This was made possible by our stop at the CN Tower. The CN Tower is 1,815 feet and 5 inches in height and is the most recognizable and celebrated icon in Canada. Every year, 1.5 million people visit the national tower to take in the breathtaking views of the city. When we arrived at the tower, we made our way up to 360 Restaurant. The revolving restaurant, which sits 1,151 feet in the air, was a great choice. It offered a spectacular view of the entire city, especially at night.

We had a very nice server who mentioned he had been working at the restaurant for over 20 years! I thought this was very impressive, until we made our last stop of the night at The Roof Lounge at Park Hyatt Toronto. We struck up a conversation with the bartender, Joe Gomes. We learned that Joe began working at The Roof Lounge when he was just 17 years old. We were shocked when he told us he is now more than 70 years old! He was eager to share his story and reflect on the changes he has seen in the city over his 50-plus years of working at the hotel. It is always a pleasure to get a local perspective of the city you’re visiting.
All and all, it was a short but pleasant trip. I hope to visit again but next time in the summer, when the weather is a bit more bearable!
