The Office Experience debuted in Chicago yesterday. Created by Superfly X and Universal Live Entertainment in consultation with The Office’s U.S. creator, Greg Daniels, The Office Experience celebrates the popular television show in 17 rooms on two floors at The Shops at North Bridge on the Magnificent Mile.
The tour starts at Scranton Business Park, complete with Dwight Shrute’s car parked in his usual spot. Next you step into Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. This is an amazing recreation of the set, including Michael Scott’s office, the confession room, the lunch room and virtually everywhere else seen on the show.
The amount of props and the attention to detail is mind-boggling. This isn’t a random collection of props. From Post-It notes on walls to glue bottles to coffee cups, the sets are meticulously recreated. Reams of Dundler Mifflin copy paper sit on the stock room shelves (and can actually be purchased in the gift shop).
There are also several interactive exhibits. On the Beets for Sale sign, specially marked beets play funny sayings from the show. The phone in Michael’s office and on several desks also play familiar humorous messages. A squishy ball sits on a desk for Dunderball fun. In the cafeteria, you can play Hate Ball without worrying about incurring Angela’s wrath.
Be prepared for many great photo opportunities. Take a picture sitting at Michael’s desk, at Jim and Pam’s wedding chapel, driving the forklift, walking on hot coals and many other iconic sets from the show.
The Office Experience follows the success of the Friends Experience. Several months ago, when I interviewed Jonathan Mayers, founder and CEO, Superfly X, about The Friends Experience, he said they had big plans for future exhibits. The Office Experience surpassed my expectations. While The Friends Experience had several cool set recreations and props, The Office Experience is like stepping on the actual production set.
Walking through The Office Experience brought back a lot of funny memories from the show. By the time I left, I wanted to binge watch it all over again. It also made my mind spin with possibilities of more exhibitions featuring other shows.
The tour is billed as lasting 60–90 minutes, but there is so much to see, you might need to go twice. Within each room, every time I looked around I saw something I missed. The Office Experience runs in Chicago through Jan. 17.

Its stone walls, earth tones, woven wall hangings and furniture made of natural materials reminded us we are part of nature’s spectrum, the abundant windows showing native plants and trees outside.

Jul 24, 2024Althoff Grand Hotel Schloss Bensberg Review
After a long drive from our previous destination, it was a relief to see Althoff Grandhotel Schloss Bensberg in our view. When we pulled into the hotel court, I felt like we were pulling up to a royal palace. Considering the hotel was originally built as a castle for Prince Elector Johann Wilhelm II of Duesseldorf and his wife, Maria-Luisa of the Medici family, my thought wasn’t that far off.
