The heat in Los Angeles has reached a sweltering 106 degrees in a few lucky areas; to think of better times, I wanted to share a perfect weekend in Seattle a few weeks ago. The weather in Seattle was a beautiful 80 degrees, with sunshine and light wind. I arrived on Saturday afternoon, in time to check in to the W Seattle in the heart of downtown. For dinner I walked towards Pike Place Market and finally got to try a restaurant I have heard about many times. The Pink Door is a boutique Italian restaurant with a great atmosphere and exclusive seating for a view of the water. My crab Caesar salad and house wine while watching the setting sun was a perfect ending to the day. On Sunday I drove up to Snoqualmie Ridge for the Boeing Classic on invitation from GT‘s great partner, Hainan Airlines. Their sky box looked over Hole 9, and I was able to see Fred Couples hit a clean shot; my father would have been jealous! Later that afternoon I took Uber to the Seattle Asian Art Museum to view its Japan Art Deco exhibit. The featured objects were fascinating, and I suggest anyone traveling to Seattle check it out if you have time. Monday I was back to work with meetings and glad I was able to experience the W Seattle. The gym was clean with plenty of machines, room service was prompt, and the location was perfect. My only disappointment was they overcharged my room by $500 and mini bar by $40; the charges were reimbursed, but it was an unnecessary hassle for me and I felt a bit cheated.
