Traveling can make it difficult to stay on track with your typical workout schedule.
Luckily, the travel industry recognized this and is now catering to the healthy lifestyles of guests and passengers. From healthy food options to hotel gyms, we can’t really make excuses anymore for not breaking a sweat while traveling.
For me, I must say that I have never been much of a gym rat, and I’d prefer taking in the surroundings of the destination, whether it be for business or leisure. In Miami I always make a point to wake up a bit earlier before my days of meetings to run or walk the beach boardwalk trail on South Beach.
In Dubai, I found time in the morning to walk the Downtown Dubai area, where you will find the Dubai Mall, Burj Khalifa and The Address Downtown. On my annual family vacation to the Outer Banks, I enjoy running on the beach (early morning) or power walking the path along the road. Next week I will head to the Outer Banks for the 27th consecutive year! While I will bring my running shoes and workout clothes to do my typical morning run or walk, I will also be trying out my Skyfit app. I recently downloaded this fitness app, which offers a long list of different workouts from outdoor running, treadmill, elliptical, indoor cycling and yoga.
Each workout is created by a different trainer, and you can choose the workout based on type of workout, time, calories burned and mileage. I think this is a perfect option to have with you as you travel. Whether you want to stay in the hotel gym or experience the outdoors, the app can accommodate your fitness needs. Plus, with so many options, you will never be bored by your workout, no matter where you are.
Next week, I look forward to using the app for an outdoor running workout as well as an early morning yoga session on the beach.

Mar 28, 2024Cruise Lines Elevate the Onboard Fine-Dining Experience
It’s been a long time since the food on cruise ships resembled the bland, uninspired fare that gave onboard dining a bad name. These days, cruise passengers can look forward to menus created by Michelin-starred chefs made with top-quality ingredients served in stunning spaces. Choices abound as well. In addition to elegant main dining rooms, cruise ships have created a huge array of specialty restaurants that focus not only on perfectly executed traditional European and North American dishes but flavors and experiences from around the globe as well. In fact, meals served aboard cruise vessels have gotten so good, they’re drawing passengers onto ships: According to a recent report by luxury travel planning network Virtuoso, advisors report after Europe (specifically Italy and France), the No. 2 dining destination for travelers is aboard an ocean or river cruise. “This shows how cruise lines have really stepped up their culinary game, with consulting chefs and new restaurants and making that a focal point,” said Misty Belles, vice president, Global Public Relations, Virtuoso.
