Anyone who has been to Global Traveler’s headquarters or events in recent months has likely seen my impromptu standing desk or heard a joke about it.

A few weeks ago, publisher and CEO Francis X. Gallagher sent me an email about a standing desk he was looking at for the office. Now until this point, I was using boxes stacked on top of each other as a makeshift standing desk. I took the boxes when we were making some space one day and kept them out of the way under my desk. As a result, I was able to stand a little more and felt like I was making healthier choices.
The stacked boxes are pretty bad for an office aesthetic, though. Last week, my standing desk arrived. It took much longer than I expected to put it together.
I now have an actual standing desk. I am able to spend a majority of each day on my feet, which really makes me feel healthier.
