On March 14 one of my best friends married the love of his life in a fairytale wedding.

I arrived at Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico. Jalisco is where tequila was born, and a great party always goes along with a visit to the area.

Zapopan is a beautiful, almost-new city that started as a small town with so much to offer — well-organized, pretty and the food is a dream. One dish you must eat is the traditional tortas ahogadas that you can find on almost every corner. Plaza Andares is a great choice to find a variety of food choices so all cravings can be satisfied; shop and walk around a little bit trying to find all the hidden little ducks and it can turn into a fun game.

The historical center of Zapopan has a special charm; it gives you the feeling you’re in an old small town with its small art market, a free art museum and street art. Near Zapopan, in a big garden, the magic happened.

As the grooms walked down the aisle, everybody, including me, started crying. We continued as they said their vows.

That same day, they were also celebrating nine years of their relationship, nine years since they started this adventure that now took a turn to become a family.

It was a beautiful ceremony, they were surrounded by all the right people, by the ones that truly wish them a life full of happiness and love. I’m so happy and grateful I got to be part of this event.

It was a great weekend and a great wedding. Now, let’s keep safe during quarantine, hoping this ends soon, but more important, let’s not lose our wanderlust!
