I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before, but Chicago is one of my favorite domestic cities, and I take the opportunity to spend as much time there as possible, which is part of the reason I extended a recent business trip with GT’s associate publisher Carly Allen into a Saturday.

In addition to enjoying some free time, Carly and I enjoyed our stay at Conrad Chicago, opened in November 2016. The accommodations were extremely comfortable, with great city views to boot. We both appreciated the ample bathroom with its exceptional lighting and the cozy bathrobes. Seriously, there’s no word accurate enough to describe the robes!

After a four-mile walk on Saturday morning along the Chicago River, we discovered another of the hotel’s delights: brunch at Baptiste & Bottle. We indulged — Carly opted for the create-your-own Bloody Mary option, while I chose the mimosa version. The spread for creating the libation to your liking was plentiful, and I made a delicious watermelon mint mimosa.

To our stomachs’ delight, our server sent over the cinnamon rolls in a skillet — talk about decadent. Served warm and covered in icing, these were probably the best cinnamon rolls I’ve had. A little salt must be used in the preparation, as every few bites, I’d get a hint of salt to balance the sweetness. For my meal, the beautiful preparation of the huevos rancheros almost made it too picture-perfect to eat!

Sadly, after brunch, it was time to depart Chicago, but we certainly finished our trip in the best way possible!
