As a frequent visitor to Philadelphia’s Fishtown neighborhood, nine times out of 10 I get street tacos when I am there. It’s fast, easy and always delicious. Plus, you have about four different trucks to choose from.

This weekend I switched it up. Although the taco trucks were tempting, it was a beautiful Saturday afternoon, and my friend and I decided we would sit and enjoy a margarita as well. Sancho Pistolas is a Mexican restaurant in the area that we decided to give a go. They had outdoor seating, and I have heard many good things — especially about the nachos.

We started off with the Blood Orange margarita, very good — not too sweet and not too tart. The nachos we chose were the chicken tinga option, and let me tell you, they do not go light on the chicken and the dish was full of flavor!

Now, all in all everything was great, and we were about to ask for the bill when we were offered some churros. At first, I was too full, but we ended up ordering them. I normally would not rave about a dessert, especially when there are options like tacos, enchiladas and queso, but these churros were the best I’ve ever had — perfectly crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. They came with dipping chocolate, but I didn’t even need it. I know. I was shocked, too.

So all in all, try something new when you go out; you may be happily surprised. Until next time, cheers!
