Since living in the Philadelphia area, I have become a bit of a beer snob. Philadelphia has such a wide selection of amazing craft beer that when it comes to well-known brands such as Sam Adams, I’m not interested. Most beer snobs will attest to the same attitude. Every time I travel to Boston, I always hear people rave about the Sam Adams Brewery tour. Since becoming a beer snob, however, I never once considered taking the tour. Finally, after years of my friends insisting I take the tour, I gave in and decided to see what all the hype was about. As it turns out, the tour was awesome, and the beer was even better. Now, I’ve seen the Sam Adams commercials with the blindfolded tastings, but I always assumed the commercials were staged. After taking the tour, the Sam Adams commercials must be authentic; I literally could not believe I was drinking Sam Adams. They had a wonderful variety, and everything was extremely fresh. After the tour, they offered us a shuttle to Doyle’s Café, one of the oldest pubs in Boston. We enjoyed some amazing chowder and had another Sam Adams.
