In a recent blog about my stay at Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort, I mentioned the many dining options. I can’t list all of my meals, but here are a few of the best.

When in Mexico, first go for an authentic Mexican dinner. At Tres Colores I had to start with a mango frozen margarita. We enjoyed slightly spicy shrimp ceviche while waiting for our main dish. My chicken mole was huge in size and flavor. The thick sauce had a deep, warm richness. The chocolate bomb was the bomb (pun intended). I’m not much into desserts or chocolate, but this was fantastic.

Maris was our choice for seafood. The breaded calamari appetizer was light and cooked perfectly. I followed that with a wonderful shrimp ceviche dish. A passionfruit frozen margarita was especially refreshing.

For the best of all worlds, the World Cafe satisfied every craving. I wouldn’t ordinarily praise a buffet so highly, but this was no ordinary buffet. It featured several food stations, any of which could have been a buffet by itself. Omelettes made to order with fresh vegetables were a great start. I added light, fluffy French toast and a few servings of lox to round out my breakfast. The indoor-outdoor seating option was an added benefit.

I listed my three favorite meals, but the truth is every meal I had on this trip was a winner. Also, I have to mention every frozen margarita was perfectly blended to a thick, smooth drink.
