Call me “basic,” but I love fall! My house is decked out in fall décor, from autumn-scented hand soaps and candles to a themed table runner and mantle décor, with mums and pumpkins on the front porch. This morning before logging on, I whipped up my first homemade fall dessert, a caramel apple poke cake, made with apples my husband and I picked last weekend, and we’re heading to the Poconos tonight with friends to take in the glory of the changing leaves. Despite warmer temperatures this week, a crispness returned to the air this morning, and the weekend forecast looks like autumnal bliss.
Last weekend my husband and I went apple picking at Solebury Orchards, a nearby orchard, and enjoyed crisp ciders at Warwick Farm Brewing, a local brewery. Next weekend we plan to lean into Halloween with a haunted hayride, and then we’ll join our neighbors outside for trick or treaters. Next up on my fall baking list are pumpkin chocolate chunk oatmeal cookies, and then, as we look into November, I’m planning to make an apple crumb pie or an apple crisp.
