A Change of Scenery

I’m sure most of us could use one by now! As travelers, it’s not in our nature to stay in the same place for too long. I was feeling antsy to break free of my house but still wanted to be mindful and responsible with the current situation. Luckily, my fiancé’s family has a cabin in the Poconos Mountains, in Pennsylvania, that is fairly remote and lends itself well to social distancing. So last weekend we packed the car with groceries from our house, as well as our two cats, and headed north.

Poconos Weekend

This past weekend I had the chance to go to the Poconos in Pennsylvania for my family’s annual weekend on Fairview Lake. Every summer my immediate and extended family drives up to enjoy the weekend that allows us to reconnect through no shortage of lake activities.

The Argosaronic Islands Are Calling

The Saronic or Argo Saronic Islands of Greece call travelers to explore its seven small islands and islets brimming with history, natural sites and more. With most easily accessible by boat, the islands’ proximity to ports of Athens make the Saronic Islands an ideal destination for those preferring shorter boat rides. In fact, trips from Athens ports to the islands take only between 10 minutes and two hours, depending on the island you choose, making them perfect for day or weekend trips. From Piraeus port, you can access Hydra, Spetses, Aegina and Poros directly. Come explore these stunning islands with us and find the inspiration to plan your next trip to these islands. Hydra Hydra town curves around a slope overlooking the Argosaronic Gulf like an amphitheater and is considered one of the most romantic destinations in Greece. Most unique to the island is its lack of vehicles. People on the island get around on mules and donkeys as well as water taxis, making for a peaceful and laid-back day. Hydra lies a two-hour ferry ride from Piraeus port in Athens.

Star-Spangled Stephanie

The Fourth of July break this year afforded me time with my family near the Poconos, in northeastern Pennsylvania, at our lake home. The summertime offers many opportunities to visit new places, but sometimes the sweetest spot is quite familiar — home. Pulling into the driveway of my Mom’s house, my faithful pup awaited my return, rushing to the car to gleefully welcome me with a wag of her tail and a smile on her face. My mom greeted me from the deck with a big "Hello!" paired with the best hug one could ever have.
