There is nothing quite like a long holiday weekend. You can feel the anticipation of a break lingering in the air all week long. Fewer and fewer emails roll in, the phone rings a little less, traffic is lighter, and people are eagerly finishing up projects so they can get the long weekend started. And, as Memorial Day is the official start of summer, there is a whole new element of excitement added to the buzz. I, for one, am very excited for the weekend. I have lots of great plans for the weekend and, while busy, it will be relaxing and fun – a welcome distraction as I have a few very busy weeks ahead. My holiday weekend kicks off today with a trip to visit a college friend in Connecticut. Eager to avoid the holiday traffic, I am meeting her in NYC this afternoon and then taking the train to Connecticut. Tomorrow, it is back to New York City and to the brand-new Yankee Stadium to watch my favorite Philadelphia Phillies take on the New York Yankees. It should be a great match-up as the Phils are first place in their division and the Yankees are coming off a nine-game winning streak. Interleague play is always exciting. And I am anxious to see the billion-and-a-half-dollar new stadium. For that much money, I expect to be wowed! My college friend is a Yankees fan, so it should be an exciting showdown. The rest of the weekend will be spent at home, filled with two barbecues, time spent with family and friends and another Phillies game (this time on home turf vs. the Florida Marlins). And yes, I, too, keep glancing at my computer clock, watching the minutes until the weekend begins tick down slowly. I hope everyone has a great weekend.
