Rather than spend the day sitting on the beach, I experienced the Jersey Shore from a different perspective this past weekend that still allowed me to be outside, near the water, basking in the sun. On Sunday, I visited Lakeview Docks in Wildwood to explore the bay on a tandem kayak with my boyfriend. We originally planned to try stand-up paddle boarding for the first time but were persuaded to enjoy kayaking instead due to the choppy weather conditions. Nestled along Sunset Lake, Lakeview Docks offers the largest riding area in the Crest for a variety of water sports, including wave-running, boating, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding, as well as a fishing and crabbing pier. We rented a tandem kayak for an hour, providing us with enough time to catch some rays (and a small amount of sunburn) and enjoy a great upper-body workout. After paddling hard upstream through the choppiness, we coasted comfortably downstream past the gorgeous houses lining the bay, admiring their beautiful docks and choosing what kind of boat we would like to own and navigate on the bay some day. With a refreshing breeze cooling us off and occasional splashes of the cool bay water, we had an amazing time on the water and cannot wait to get back out on a kayak again in the near future. The Jersey Shore offers so many waterways to explore via kayak, including the Atlantic Ocean for experienced kayakers, rivers that are popular places to take a tour for all skill levels, and the Edwin B.
