With summer winding down, my husband and I took advantage of the slightly cooler temps and made our way to Wissahickon Valley Park in Philadelphia for a hike. It was my first time exploring the park, and with more than 57 miles of trails, there is plenty to see!
We arrived early in the morning and parked near Valley Green Inn, a historic restaurant located in the park. The trails are well-marked, and there are several maps displayed throughout. While most of the trails don’t loop back to their origination spots, many intersect, so you’re able to walk through various areas. There are notable landmarks to see during your visit. We stopped at two: Devil’s Pool and Fingerspan Bridge. In total, we hiked about five miles through hilly and flat terrain.
It was lunchtime by the end of our hike, so we decided to fuel up at Manayunk Brewing Company. We enjoyed nachos, salads and beer to celebrate our late-summer morning hike.
Wissahickon Valley Park is a perfect spot to enjoy the great outdoors in Philadelphia.
