A few weeks ago one of my friends asked if I would be interested in joining a kickball team. After my initial apprehension, as I am not particularly a star athlete, I signed up. Voted Best of Philly 2011, Philadelphia Sports Network offers adults several different league options including basketball, dodgeball, tennis and bowling. More than anything, it is an excuse to run around outside for an hour, then partake in the many drink specials local bars offer PSN participants.
So far, my team has played two games. After last week’s loss (10–6), we drowned our sorrows in half-price beers at Watkins Drinkery and even indulged in a decadent Bacon Brownie. This week, we celebrated our 6–2 win at Devil’s Den, along with several members of the opposing team. With the exception of a few serious individuals, the players are lighthearted. Luckily, my teammates are of those in it for fun. Though, if we make the playoffs, we might change our tune!
