Business travelers face a constant battle when on the road to stay fit. As a somewhat frequent traveler, I know it can be difficult to find time to work out when on a hectic trip. I will admit, I do not exercise as much as I like when I am on the road; however, when I’m home, I’m pretty diligent about maintaining my workout routine. Oddly enough, two of my favorite ways to exercise are internationally developed fitness regimes. And they are perfect for the road, as they can easily be done in your room. I have been doing yoga for about a year-and-a-half. The practice is really an excellent way to stretch and burn calories. I do Ashtanga Vinyasa, which is a particular form of yoga. Yoga, of course, was originally developed in India. It’s the perfect on-the-road workout, as a few poses can be done in the hotel room before travelers head out to meetings. Many hotels now have in-room yoga mats and videos available. Within the last two months, I started Zumba, which is a fusion of Latin rhythms and a fitness program. It is high energy and an absolute blast. I love to dance — even if I’m not a very good dancer — so this is a perfect workout for me. I take a class, and boy, am I exhausted at the end of those 55 minutes. However, there are lots of Zumba videos available on YouTube, making this another great workout to practice on your own in a hotel room.
