MaxJet, the all-business-class airline that, like Silverjet, flies out of London Stansted into the New York metro area, folded on Christmas Eve. You can see details in the news item on our home page. While it’s always sad to see a startup airline close down, MaxJet did at least make a nice effort to accommodate its ticketholders who were caught by the announcement. The airline was publicly held, and trading in its stock had been suspended earlier in the month, so they probably weren’t allowed to give any hints. They did arrange to fly stranded passengers home in style–not on Silverjet, but on all-premium Eos, which flies with just 48 seats per aircraft. That’s above and beyond what most bankrupt carriers do. And since Eos seats are limited–and, one presumes, at least somewhat already booked on its own–Maxjet arranged blocks of hotel rooms in London and its New York gateways for its passengers who would have to wait for a return flight.  It’s nice to see that an airline that attempted to have some class went out the same way. –Mary Hunt, editor, eFlyer
