Dinner and a Show in Philadelphia

by Katie Skrzek

Feb 22, 2024

Over the weekend my husband and I joined two of our friends for dinner and a concert in Philadelphia.

We started the night at Lloyd in Philadelphia’s Fishtown neighborhood. The bar and restaurant is themed after the film The Shining. There are subtle nods to the horror film including beverages on the menu and the décor. I tried one of the themed cocktails, Jack & Wendy, named after the couple in the film. The bourbon drink also featured sweet vermouth, apricot jam, lemon and sage. For my meal I opted for one of the specials, a chopped cheese sandwich with fries. The sandwich had ground beef, cheese, peppers, onions and spicy mayo. We all enjoyed the spot and would definitely go back again.

Before the concert we made a stop at The Trestle Inn for another drink. The cocktail bar gets much livelier later in the evening, so we enjoyed the quiet vibes before our show. We all had the whiskey sour, with house-made sour mix. It was refreshing without being overly sour.

We then made our way to Underground Arts for the concert. The headliners were Philly-based punk band The Dead Milkmen. The band is a favorite of our friends, and we were excited to see them live for the first time. There were two opening acts, and the energy throughout the entire evening was contagious. We all had a great night from start to finish supporting local Philadelphia spots.show show
