There’s no doubt we are in the midst of truly unprecedented times. I have spent my week reading and learning information from a number of sources on a variety of subjects, as well as all the material I read, write, edit and absorb on a daily basis for work. More and more press releases are filling my inbox about airlines and hotels announcing dates to resume operations or reopen their doors. In my neighborhood in southeastern Pennsylvania, today marks the day we start to lift some restrictions and reopen following the COVID-19 pandemic. At least in the travel industry, all indications point to a slow resumption of travel — but safely and smartly, and I think we can all applaud the enhanced measures being put in place.
The past several weeks, we’ve been anticipating and urging a #ComeBacktoTravel with bi-weekly slideshows highlighting some of the globe’s most picturesque, unique and historical destinations; and as we prepare to send our annual Leisure Lifestyle Issue to the printer, travel feels closer than it has in the last few months.

We surveyed some of our readers last week via an online survey to learn more about their plans pre- and post-COVID-19 shutdowns. According to respondents, 78 percent are planning a trip in 2020, with 55 percent saying they are more likely to travel domestically first.
Are you currently planning to #ComeBacktoTravel? And, if so, to where?
