The lead story in this week’s eFlyer USA newsletter was about the discussion of a potential carry-on luggage ban due to terror threats. The ban is not being carried out yet. During an interview, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson stated, “I think people should continue to [travel] and have a happy and safe holiday, but we continue to be vigilant and continue to evaluate whether more is necessary, based on the latest threat streams.” All of us at GT frequently travel for work. As someone who relies heavily on using carry-on luggage, I am happy to hear the ban is not in effect. Even though safety is my biggest concern, the convenience of being able to walk straight from the gate to ground transportation with my luggage is greatly appreciated when traveling for business.
