I enjoyed a lovely September weekend in Atlanta thanks to my wonderful hosts at Georgia Tech. The weather was glorious and the atmosphere decidedly upbeat despite monster traffic congestion 24/7.

Upon heading (crawling?) through downtown, it was a bit jarring to see Turner Field renamed for Center Parc Credit Union, now home of Georgia State after the Braves departed for the suburbs. Upon arriving at the Marriott Marquis, the staff was welcoming and gracious.

I had a nice run through Centennial Park, bringing back memories of the 1996 Summer Olympics, and circled around Mercedes-Benz Stadium and CNN. No celebrity sightings, but I did a double take when I saw Christmas trees and holiday decorations were up on Peachtree Street. Turns out they were filming a movie, so maybe I’ll be one of those “atmosphere” people that walk back and forth in the background when it comes out. Unfortunately, I didn’t find out what the title is, so that may be moot.

The city is often noisy, but my room on the 24th floor was insulated and quiet. I had fun working with Tech athletics before returning (more monster traffic) to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The T Gates are always appreciated here — much less hassle. The Admirals Club was spacious and well-stocked with food, beverages and many TVs. Looking forward to returning to more delightful hospitality soon, despite that darned traffic.
