This week, I traveled to South Florida for a business trip. We stayed in Miami, located a short distance from the Fort Lauderdale area. My colleague and I had a wonderful client dinner at Steak 954, a beachfront restaurant part of the Philadelphia-based STARR Restaurants portfolio from restauranteur Stephen Starr. My client made a few suggestions before we decided on this venue. Once we learned Steak 954 was a Stephen Starr property, the Philadelphia in us said we had to try it out. We were not disappointed. Located on North Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard, the restaurant has beautiful views of the beach and ocean. We were lucky to get a table on the front porch of the restaurant with a wonderful view. The weather worked in our favor, as it was not too hot this particular evening. The food was delicious from start to finish. I started off with the tomato and burratta appetizer, which was quite large and ideal to share with others. For entrées, we all opted for different dishes, varying from filet mignon and swordfish to duck and black cod. Everyone very much enjoyed their meals! We ended the meal with a few desserts to share as a table. My favorite was the double carmelized chocolate custard with a pecan streusel. Yum!
