Today was a rainy morning in Los Angeles, making it harder for me to get out of bed and ready for my 7 a.m. Power Cycle spin class. All week my teacher has been yelling — literally — that 2017 is the year of intentions. I love this saying because it allows us more freedom than hardline resolutions but gives us a fresh start every day.
My intentions for 2017 are like everyone else’s — to live my life in a healthier and happy way. This ranges from exercising more when I can, eating fresh foods from my local farmers’ market rather than frozen dishes and, of course, experiencing different cultures, art and people when traveling.
For us travelers, we get to create new intentions for every city we visit: vowing to eat a new local dish, jog around the city before meetings or gain new friends. Some might not always work out that trip, but it’s the willingness to try that counts.
