This summer, three lucky guests of Beau Rivage Resort & Casino will drive shiny new Corvettes home. During our recent visit, the vehicles were prominently displayed at the massive MGM International resort in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Often referred to as the “Bellagio of the South,” the property’s sparkling mosaic tiled floors, abundance of natural light and colorful displays of living plants creates a gracious entrance. We arrived at noon and the friendly staff checked us into a 26th-floor, mobility-accessible guest room.

The 1,645 guestrooms underwent a $55 million remodel last year. Our room featured a king bed with a 4-foot-tall white headboard positioned on a turquoise wall. Crown molding and indulgent wood panels above the bed formed an elegant cocoon. Coastal Mississippi, with its stunning sunsets and sunrises, inspired the joyful color palette.

In the corner, a high-back upholstered chair was the perfect spot for my husband to recharge with a cup of coffee he made in the room. All guestrooms have a view of the Mississippi Gulf Coast or Biloxi and its Back Bay. We could see boats speeding across the water and occasionally a pelican flew past the window. A desk, large flat-screen television and warm wood cabinets completed the amenities.

The well-lit bathroom with marble countertop, robes and an accessible tub contained generous individual tubes of body lotion and haircare products. Rooms at the resort are spacious with a minimum of 400 square feet.

Jim and I toured the resort. Even on a weekday, the 85,000 square feet of gaming space was busy, and the new Buffalo Zone had several players. After trying our luck at the slots, we popped over to the shopping promenade. Merchandise in the upscale shops ranges from extravagant jewelry and designer handbags to beach wear and unique home décor. On site, there’s a full-service spa, large gym and an outdoor swimming pool.

Golfers can reserve a time at the Tom Fazio-designed championship course or stay cool practicing indoors at the Topgolf Swing Suite. The property boasts a dozen restaurants to satisfy a variety of cravings. For dinner, we made reservations at Salt & Ivy, a Coastal Kitchen, opened in April. A bit like dining in a glass green house, the atmosphere is welcoming and casual. We ordered cocktails and one of the restaurant’s most popular entrees — shrimp and grits. After dinner, we lounged on the second-floor deck near the outdoor swimming pool to admire the sunset. Our final stop of the evening was Eight75 to hear live entertainment.
