Heading to Vancouver’s Grouse Mountain wilderness area with your family? Start your day with a Ranger Talk and feeding of resident Grizzly bears Grinder and Coola, then enjoy your own breakfast at the Grizzly Lookout Café where choices include Braised Beef and Root Vegetable Hash, candied and smoked salmon, Forest Apple Crumble, Beary Yogurts, Milk and Honey and Grinder “Bearioche” French Toast with West Coast “Bluebeary” preserve. Available on select dates in July, August, September and October, the Breakfast with the Bears program takes place from 8:30–10:30 a.m. Tickets also include access to the Skyride, the largest aerial tramway system in North America. Back at sea level, the 27th season of the city’s Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival will continue through Sept. 24. Evening performances are held in tented stages in Vanier Park, backed by False Creek. The 2016 season includes a 1960s take on The Merry Wives of Windsor, Othello set during the American Civil War period, Romeo and Juliet and the lesser-known Pericles, attributed in part to Shakespeare. The story, set in an imaginary world, follows a prince’s quest to find true love and discover the meaning to life. Come early and stroll through Bard Village, where you can find food concessions, a bar, picnic packages and pre-show talks.
