Many hotel brands turned to producing “millennial-minded” offshoots across the globe to appeal to the younger target demographic of travellers who care more about experiences than accommodations. A Thailand-based hotel and property development company, Dusit International, followed suit with its latest endeavor.
ASAI Hotels is aimed at the “curious, Millennial-minded travellers” and will offer local experiences in destinations worldwide. The new brand is set to launch in the first quarter of 2019 with a new hotel in Bangkok’s Chatuchak Market.
The property is designed to reflect the culture and heritage of its location. Hotels will have smaller rooms with contemporary designs and mixed-use space, reflecting travellers’ desire to spend less time in the room and more time exploring.
ASAI Hotels will utilize technology to keep in touch with younger travellers. Self check-in kiosks, online guides to the destination and more will be available for guests to streamline the experience. Staff at each property is also hired based on knowledge of the local neighborhood.
Dusit plants to open five more hotels, including three in Cebu, Philippines; one in Yangon, Myanmar; and a second hotel in Bangkok’s Sathorn district. All are scheduled to open throughout 2019.
