Avianca in Brazil is set to join the Star Alliance network this summer, enabling customers to book domestic flights in Latin America’s largest and most important mark.
During Star Alliance’s mid-year Chief Executive Board Meeting earlier this month, hosted by LOT Polish Airlines, member carrier CEOs endorsed enhancements to further improve the network travel experience and announced plans to add Avianca in Brazil on July 22.
“As a mature Alliance with a comprehensive network and good, close relationships between our member airlines we are excellently placed to offer continuous enhancements in various ways that together improve the Alliance travel experience,” said Mark Schwab, CEO, Star Alliance.
“We are delighted that we can include Avianca in Brazil as of next month, which, together with various new hub-to-hub services announced by individual members, signifies that we will boost network connectivity this year,” Schwab added.
Avianca in Brazil currently offers service to 24 airports across Brazil, including 210 daily flights from its hubs at São Paulo Guarulhos (GRU), Rio de Janeiro (GIG), Brasilia (BSB) and Salvador (SAL).
Complementing recent network expansions are new codeshare agreements between member airlines, including Air India and Air New Zealand, Air India and Avianca, Copa and TAP and EVA Air and Turkish Airlines.
