Asiana Airlines announced the elimination of its first-class seats on aircraft flying international routes. “Considering that our company is at an absolutely inferior position in terms of supply of first-class seats, all other flights will change to a two-class system, while the first class will remain on our four Airbus A380 airliners,” said Kim Soo-cheon, CEO, Asiana Airlines, in a video broadcast to all employees. Currently, 20 of the airline’s 74 aircraft feature both first- and business-class cabins in addition to economy. According to Soo-cheon, Asiana lost approximately 150 billion won due to the outbreak of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome that caused many travelers to cancel their trips during the most recent quarter.
