A new study from Agoda reveals Asian travellers as those who plan the furthest in advance. Hong Kong travellers particularly show a tendency to plan ahead, booking their stays an average of six weeks before check-in. Following close behind are travellers from Taiwan, Australia and Russia, with Sweden rounding up the top five. The group of travellers who plan the least ahead were those from the United Arab Emirates, who book accommodations an average of 12 days before check-in. Right in the middle of the pack were travellers from Spain and the United States. “Those early birds may be onto something. Travellers who book early tend to have a better selection of properties, and a better selection of room types. There’s always a risk that plans could change, but many properties have free cancellation now, so travellers likely won’t be out of pocket if they have to,” said Errol Cooke, vice president, partner services, Agoda.
