American Airlines is scheduled to combine its reservations system with US Airways’ system in a 90-day process that could begin as early as July and end in October. To reduce the risk of issues, the airline decided on a gradual shift to American’s reservations system rather than an overnight switch. The number of flights labeled as US Airways flights in the system will be reduced each day as travel is completed. When the process begins, travelers holding US Airways tickets for flights during the 90-day period will not see any changes, while those already holding US Airways reservations for flights booked three months out and beyond will be notified their flight is now an American flight. Confirmation codes, flight times and routes will not change. Travelers can still buy tickets on USAirways.com and other sites for US Airways flights for travel during those three months. Travelers purchasing tickets past the cutover date will be automatically redirected to American’s website.
