Spot American Airlines and TSA’s new screening technology at the Terminal 8 security checkpoint at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

The new computed tomography scanner offers 3D technology to provide better visibility. The scanner shows carry-on items in 360-degree imagery, so operators see beyond clutter and only the contents that matter. The technology better detects threats and allows passengers to leave liquids, gels, aerosols and laptops inside carry-on bags at all times.

“Use of CT technology substantially improves TSA’s threat detection capability at a checkpoint.” said David Pekoske, administrator, TSA. “This partnership will allow us to deploy new technology quickly and see an immediate improvement in security effectiveness.”

The technology began testing at JFK last month and testing soon extends to Phoenix (PHX) and Boston (BOS).
