The initial testing launch will take place at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport for American Airlines’ passengers traveling to Hawai’i and Costa Rica Oct. 15. Following next week’s initial testing, American Airlines will introduce the same procedures at Miami International Airport. Tests will be available to American Airlines travelers flying to the Bahamas, Costa Rica and Jamaica.
The airline will also expand the offering by working with CARICOM, a community of 20 Caribbean countries.
“We applaud American’s efforts to develop a COVID-19 testing program for international travel and we are proud to partner with the airline to include Costa Rica in their initial launch,” said Gustavo Segura Sancho, Minister of Tourism, Costa Rica. “Initiatives like these are crucial for the recovery of tourism in Costa Rica, an important economic engine for our country, while ensuring passenger health and safety.”
Testing must be completed within 72 hours of the final leg of departure and uploaded to the Costa Rica’s Health Pass. Residents and tourists with proof of a negative COVID-19 test can bypass Costa Rica’s 14-day quarantine. See all of Costa Rica’s COVID-19 protocols and safety regulations here.
I arrived in Mexico City on a sunny late afternoon and zipped through light traffic from Benito Juarez International Airport to the heart of Mexico City, Paseo de la Reforma. Four Seasons Mexico City sits in the middle of the bustling area; but once you arrive in the covered driveway, you are transported into a sense of calm, art and luxury.

From the dark, infamous corners of Hunter S. Thompson’s years riding up and down the West Coast with the Hell’s Angels and John Steinbeck’s introspective Travels with Charley: In Search of America to Jack Kerouac’s legendary weeks On the Road, simultaneously creating a great American novel and wanderlust route with beatnik friends, there’s just something so quintessentially American about a road trip. Maybe it’s the renegade history of the first recorded cross-country journey when Dr. Horatio Nelson Jackson packed his two-cylinder, 20-horsepower, roofless and windowless Winton automobile with 22-year-old mechanic and co-driver Sewall Crocker and a goggle-wearing bulldog named Bud and hit the open road from San Francisco to New York on a $50 bet in 1903. Years before his time — one decade before the National Park Service was founded, two decades before Route 66 was built and half a century before the Interstate Highway System existed — Jackson made the transcontinental drive, won his $50 and established a road map for a classic American travel practice with an exceedingly American origin story.

I took a much-needed vacation to somewhere I’d never been before but had heard about for years: Montana. We chose The Resort at Paws Up outside of Missoula, as it blends miles of open land and outdoor activities with luxury accommodation and service.
