American Airlines and Japan Airlines announced they plan to provide a special non-stop flight for CES 2019. The International Consumer Electronics Show creates increased demand between Tokyo (NRT) and Las Vegas (LAS), which the additional service now remedies Jan. 4–14, 2019.
The flight is operated on an American Airlines Boeing 787-8 and marketed by Japan Airlines. The flight is American’s normal Tokyo to Chicago (ORD) service, now with a new stop in Las Vegas. During the period, Japan Airlines continues to operate separate non-stop service between Tokyo and Chicago.
“Thousands of travelers from Japan and other parts of Asia make their way to Las Vegas every year for CES,” said Shane Hodges, managing director of Asia Pacific sales, American Airlines. “The network and onboard experience offered by American and Japan Airlines as part of our Pacific Joint Business is world-class, and we are thrilled to make getting to the world’s largest technology event faster and easier than ever before.”
“Travelers in Asia are discerning, wanting the best schedule on the best aircraft,” said Noboru Hirai, vice president of international passenger sales and planning, Japan Airlines. “This special service allows us to do that, while closely working with American to tailor it to the needs of Japanese customers.”
The flights depart Las Vegas at 11:25 a.m. and arrive in Japan at 4:25 p.m. the next day. Return flights to Las Vegas depart at 6:25 p.m. and arrive in Las Vegas at 11:40 a.m. Flights on the special route are now available for purchase.
“For many of our visitors each year, Las Vegas means business, and there is no better example than CES,” said Rosemary A. Vassiliadis, director, McCarran International Airport. “With those customers in mind, the airport works closely with airlines and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority to expand and improve travelers’ options during peak demand times. This service from American will make it even easier for technology enthusiasts from Japan to experience CES. This 10-day air service is expected to have an estimated economic impact of $2.8 million in addition to the more than $270 million annually that CES and its 184,000 attendees bring to the local economy.”
