American Airlines now offers high-speed WiFi across more aircraft than any other airline. The new status follows the addition of connectivity to the airline’s entire long-term mainline narrow-body fleet, a total of more than 700 aircraft. The satellite-based WiFi allows for video streaming, file uploading and downloading. Additionally, the outfitted aircraft now have live TV streaming capabilities, giving passengers access to 12 channels on personal devices free of charge. American Airlines is currently the only U.S. airline to offer live TV streaming on international flights.

The increased WiFi offerings are part of American Airline’s most recent investments in the onboard customer experience. Earlier in the year, the airline announced a partnership with Apple Music to give passengers access to more than 50 million songs, playlists and music videos.

In the coming months, American Airlines expects to install charging ports at every seat across its mainline fleet and to retrofit narrow-body aircraft with tablet holders equipped with USB ports for charging.

“Elevating the travel experience is one of our top goals at American and we’ve been working hard to provide our customers with the same level of entertainment and connectivity options they enjoy in their own living rooms,” said Kurt Stache, senior vice president, marketing, loyalty and sales, American Airlines. “In less than two years, we completed broadband internet installation on our entire mainline fleet and we will continue setting new standards in the industry to show our customers we value the time they spend with us.”
