On Aug. 28, the doors of the new Bürgenstock Hotel & Alpine Spa swing wide, welcoming guests to one of Switzerland’s most beautiful alpine locations. A member of The Leading Hotels of the World, the stunning property is set upon a forested ridge with 180-degree views of the soaring Swiss Alps and sparkling Lake Lucerne. Part of the 148-acre Bürgenstock Hotels & Resort Lake Lucerne complex, the new hotel and spa are focused on healthy lifestyles with plenty of luxury perks. Guests are transported to the hotel’s dock via high-speed catamaran, where they’re transferred to the newly refurbished historic funicular train, then delivered directly into the lobby level of the hotel. The spa, located next door, provides 107,000 square feet of healing space with private spa suites, a 24-hour fitness area, yoga studio and a wet area with a Hammam, sauna, whirlpools and hydrotherapy pools. There’s also an indoor pool adjacent to the Alpine Gardens, and a 1,383-foot heated infinity pool stretching around two sides of the spa.

Each of the 102 guestrooms and suites are fitted with brass fireplaces and enormous windows, affording guests spectacular views of the surrounding landscape. The décor features wood, stone and other natural materials. Parquet floors of American walnut, along with oak cabinets and furnishings by Italian and Swiss designers create a warm, contemporary interior environment. Bathrooms of Italian marble feature walk-in rain showers, along with double bathtubs where long bathing sojourns come with more opportunities to soak in the views of snow-topped peaks. Topline tech components include 49-inch LED televisions with 200 radio and television channels, Bose sound systems, guest tablets, data ports, cordless phones and complimentary cable and WiFi. For dining and entertainment options, there’s the Lakeview Bar & Lounge, a 66-seat private cinema, expansive wine cellar, elegant cigar lounge and Spices Kitchen & Terrace, where the menu incorporates selections from Chinese, Indian, Japanese and Thai cuisine.
