Starwood Hotels & Resorts announced the signing of its first property in Liverpool, a 116-room Aloft hotel scheduled to open in 2014. Aloft Liverpool will be housed in the renovated, grade II-listed Royal Insurance Building located in the city’s heritage center and feature a lounge, signature bar and fitness center. “We are delighted to debut our first Starwood hotel in Liverpool,” said Roeland Vos, president for Starwood Hotels & Resorts in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. “We see great opportunities to grow our Aloft portfolio in the markets such as the U.K., where there is a strong demand for affordable yet stylish, cutting-edge hotel brands.”
