Airlines

Every day this summer, Alaska Airlines will delight at least one guest seated in its Main Cabin with an upgrade to Premium Class to celebrate the start of the busy travel season. The new promotion, upgrade unlocked, started June 1 and runs through Sept. 2, allowing Alaska Airlines passengers to experience the airline with the most legroom in Premium Class.

Each day, the airline notifies one of its guests (and their travel partner, if they have one) through the Alaska Airlines mobile app or by email that they’ve been randomly selected to be upgraded from Main Cabin to Premium Class. Located behind First Class, these seats are typically reserved for the airline’s loyalty program elite members or for purchase.

Alaska Airlines’ Premium Class offers guests 4 extra inches of legroom, the most of any U.S. legacy airline; custom-designed leather seats; and complimentary beer, wine or cocktails for guests ages 21 and up on most flights more than 350 miles.

Premium Class guests also enjoy early boarding and are among the first to get access to overhead bin space and deplane.

Eric Edge, managing director of marketing and advertising, Alaska Airlines, said “Upgrade unlocked is one way we’re showing guests our appreciation for choosing to fly with us to their favorite destinations this summer. Premium Class is just one of the many premium products and services we offer to our guests, including our best-in-class lounges, the freshest West Coast food and beverage line-up and our award-winning Mileage Plan program with the fastest path to elite status. Whether it’s their first time or they’ve experienced Premium Class before – we can’t wait to hear from our guests who receive this surprise upgrade!”

Bask in Nature’s Tranquility at The Spa at Four Seasons Tamarindo

When the two of us entered The Spa at Four Seasons Tamarindo, past the backlit boutique items and local artisan-painted wood carvings, the place wrapped us in a feeling of tranquility. Its stone walls, earth tones, woven wall hangings and furniture made of natural materials reminded us we are part of nature’s spectrum, the abundant windows showing native plants and trees outside.

Althoff Grand Hotel Schloss Bensberg Review

After a long drive from our previous destination, it was a relief to see Althoff Grandhotel Schloss Bensberg in our view. When we pulled into the hotel court, I felt like we were pulling up to a royal palace. Considering the hotel was originally built as a castle for Prince Elector Johann Wilhelm II of Duesseldorf and his wife, Maria-Luisa of the Medici family, my thought wasn’t that far off.
