Airbnb is introducing a new feature that will allow neighbors of the company’s scores of rental properties to file complaints about bad guests.

The home-sharing site rolled out an online complaint feature aimed at solving the increased complaints from residents about noise, trash and generally bad behavior seen from some neighboring property’s guests.

This all comes in addition to Airbnb’s existing “party policy” prohibiting guests from throwing ragers, and a hotline for complaints. Well-publicized New Year’s Eve parties with hundreds of guests, temporary brothels, orgies, porn shoots, sexual assault claims and other horror stories have all tainted the growing company’s reputation.

Customer service representatives will review each claim, but it’s unclear right now how the company will solve problems — and how quickly.

Airbnb is growing worldwide at an impressive clip since launching in 2008. Some 60 percent of its users say they would rather stay at an Airbnb rental than a traditional hotel. There are 60 million active Airbnb users in 192 countries today.
