Continuously looking toward the future, airlines make strides in incorporating new technology in security processes.
Air France-KLM is rolling out biometric trials at two of its operations in the United States. New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and George Bush Intercontinental in Houston will be the first to see the airline’s use of biometrics for its Air France flights.
The trials will be conducted in close partnership with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection and will serve more than 2,200 daily Air France passengers.
Air France-KLM plans to evaluate the technology’s speed, reliability and user-friendliness. Eventually, the airline hopes to use the technology to make boarding more pleasant at all of its U.S. gateways.
“We are excited to embrace an innovation that has the potential to make the travel experience less stressful and more secure for our passengers,” said Stephane Ormand, vice president and general manager, Air France KLM USA.
Air France-KLM plans to implement biometric boarding at every U.S. airport by the end of 2020.
