Air Astana will introduce the first direct link between London (LHR) and Astana (TSE), the capital city of Kazakhstan, when it launches non-stop service Oct. 29. The national carrier of Kazakhstan will operate the route once a week with Boeing 757-200 aircraft, featuring 16 seats in business class and 150 in economy. The new route will join the airline’s existing services between London and Kazakhstan’s largest city, Almaty (ALA). Air Astana will operate the Almaty–London–Astana–Almaty route on Tuesdays, the Almaty–Astana–London–Almaty route on Thursdays and direct service between Almaty and London on Saturdays. “We are delighted to be able to increase services to the United Kingdom. Not only are we increasing our current capacity between Kazakhstan and London Heathrow by 50 percent, we are directly connecting the two capital cities for the first time,” said Peter Foster, president of Air Astana.
