Aer Lingus introduced AeroMobile’s in-flight roaming service to all seven of the carrier’s Airbus A330 fleet, allowing travelers to use their mobile phones to text and browse the Internet while traveling between the United States and Ireland. Irish passengers using Three Ireland, Vodafone Ireland and O2 Ireland and travelers from the United States with AT&T or T Mobile are able to access AeroMobile by turning on their mobile devices and connecting to the network. Passengers are billed directly by their mobile operator for what they use. In the last six months, more than 20,000 passengers connected to the AeroMobile network on flights operated by Etihad, Emirates and Scandinavian Airlines from Ireland. “With the launch of AeroMobile services on Aer Lingus’ trans-Atlantic routes, Irish passengers are certainly well-served with inflight connectivity; there are now up to 140 flights a week coming in and out of Ireland on AeroMobile-equipped aircraft,” said Kevin Rogers, CEO of AeroMobile.
