Looking for an authentic dive experience? Consider a stay at Elbow Beach, Bermuda. The hotel is partnering with Reef Watch to offer a unique underwater adventure.

The Adventure Camp at Elbow Beach, in association with The Bermuda Zoological Society and Bermuda Reef Ecosystem Analysis and Monitoring Programme, gives budding marine-biologists an opportunity to participate in an on-going underwater research project.

Guests participating in the Reef Watch program explore Bermuda’s extensive coral reef system along  a half-mile stretch of ocean off the coast of  Elbow Beach. Under the direction of Bream chief scientist Thaddeus Murdoch, participants learn how to identify various forms of underwater life and how to collect data using specially designed underwater equipment.

The Reef Watch program is available from Sept. 15 to Nov. 30 and in 2014 from April 1 to May 31. The program includes:

• Two-hour Reef Watch training class
• Snorkeling equipment
• Reef Watch T-shirt
• Certificate of participation
• $25 donation to Reef Watch

This program is subject to availability and weather conditions. Minimum age is 12. Prior snorkeling experience is mandatory.
