The intimate Hotel Wailea on the Hawaiian island of Maui recently unveiled the results of a $15 million makeover. Set across 15 acres and perched 300 feet above sea level with dramatic ocean views, Hotel Wailea features 72 one-bedroom suites, a newly finished pool with private residential-style cabanas and an orchard-to-glass apothecary bar. Each of the contemporary suites boasts architectural elements such as coral and limestone walls, smoked white oak floors and custom-crafted cabinetry fused with local artwork as well as a separate living room, oversized lanai and several kitchen amenities. The new poolside lounge offers oversized cabanas around the pool deck, sun chaises, aqua loungers and circular pod daybeds as well as a built-in fire pit and tiki torches.

The hotel is set to begin its next phase of upgrades that will add an ocean-view treehouse and a new spa in 2015.
