A survey reveals Munich Airport creates approximately 2.25 new jobs every day. The survey includes data compiled by the airport over the last three years, including data provided by 550 companies operating at the airport, employing more than 34,500 individuals. The largest employer at Munich Airport is the Lufthansa Group, employing 11,100, followed by FMG, employing almost 9,000. Over the last 22 years, the amount of apprenticeship and similar positions tripled, giving young people a career head start in 45 different occupations. The majority of Munich Airport employees live in Freising, north of Munich. The average gross annual income is more than €46,700, or about €12,600 higher than the average annual gross earnings in the German services sector. Gross salaries paid out by the airport last year amounted to well more than €1.6 billion, resulting in an estimated €263 million in income taxes for the state and €257 million for social insurance, not counting employer contributions to social insurance. “With the continuing robust demand for personnel, Munich Airport is and will remain a powerful locomotive for the economy and employment,” said Dr. Michael Kerkloh, CEO, Munich Airport.
