New Philadelphia Attraction Receives Opening Date

Nov 24, 2015
Daily

Philadelphia’s highly anticipated new attraction, One Liberty Observation Deck, will open Nov. 28 at 10 a.m. The Deck is located at the top of One Liberty Place, the Helmut Jahn-designed skyscraper that stands 57 floors and 883 feet above street level. As the tallest standing attraction in Philadelphia, the observatory offers panoramic views of the city.

Visitors enter at street level; an escalator takes them to the second floor to purchase tickets and begin the experience. An express elevator to the 57th floor transports visitors in 75 seconds. An open floor plan and floor-to-ceiling windows offer 360-degree views of Philadelphia, New Jersey and the Delaware River.

Six multilingual, interactive touchscreens allow visitors to explore and learn more about the city or specific points of interest. Three Chair Zones present distinctive stories about Philadelphia culture, music and sports, voiced by three local, famous Philadelphians.

Tickets can be purchased online or at the door, with prices starting at $14 for children and $19 for adults. The Deck will be open 365 days a year from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. with a capacity of 275 people.

High-Spirited Hong Kong: The Dynamic Hub Embraces Its Maritime History and Culture

It was known as the “Kai Tak heart attack” — the thrilling, terrifying final approach into Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Airport. Airliners were required to bank sharply at the last moment, dodging hills and apartment blocks to line up with a runway jutting out into Kowloon Bay. The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.
