Topeka, Kansas marks the end of the road for the Evel Knievel (born Robert Craig Knievel) touring exhibition. The world’s largest compilation of the legendary daredevil’s private possessions will have a permanent home in the Evel Knievel Museum at Historic Harley Davidson, with a planned opening in mid-summer of 2016 in a 16,000-square foot expanded section of the building wholly dedicated to the exhibition.

The display’s anchor piece is the performer’s home on wheels, the Big Red Mack show rig that functioned as his private living quarters while he was on tour. The collection includes original performance leathers and helmets, including the costume he was wearing during his failed jump over 13 London buses at Wembley Stadium; a selection of his jump motorcycles that includes his Laverda American Eagle and 1970 Harley Davidson XR750 Ironhead; and memorabilia such as pinball games, parachutes, photographs and fan letters. The performer’s personal X-rays are also on display — at 433, Evel Knievel holds the world’s record for most broken bones in a lifetime.
