Recently, I had the chance to go snowboarding for the first time. I had always been a little nervous to try snowboarding because my uncle, who is an incredible surfer, failed miserably at snowboarding. Prior to our trip, we researched various ski resorts from the Poconos to northern New Jersey. We then finally decided to go to Bear Creek Mountain Resort, located in Macungie, Pa., because it was one of the closest. Bear Creek was beautiful. It was not one of your typical huge ski resorts, but it had everything a first-timer could need; at least that’s what I thought. It was not until I made my way up the bunny hill for my first go-around I realized we made a mistake coming to Bear Creek. It was way too crowded, and there was only one bunny hill. As a beginner, you need as much space as possible in order to not run anyone over. That was impossible at Bear Creek. Granted, it was a weekend, and from what I’ve been told, weekends are the worst time to go snowboarding. Snowboarding, however, may be my new hobby  It was so much fun, even though I have yet to figure out how to stop. Next time I will either have to go to Bear Creek on a weekday or find a ski resort with more than one bunny hill. — Matt McNeal, account executive
